What is Silver?
Silver is a soft material, but one of the metals that is processed almost purely. The designation 925 actually says it all: of the 1000 particles in an alloy, 925 are pure silver, and the other 75 particles are copper.

Advantages and disadvantages of silver jewelry
A major advantage is that silver is a relatively cheap material compared to gold. In addition, silver has a beautiful white appearance and is relatively soft, which means that it can be reshaped reasonably well. Because of this, a lot of jewelry was made of silver in the past. A disadvantage of silver is that it can oxidize due to sunlight or the acidity of the skin. In other words, silver jewelry can turn black. In general, 90% of people do not suffer from this. But it is of course possible that you or your loved one does not respond well to silver jewelry. We understand that you don't want to risk that one special gift turning black or causing an allergic reaction. That is why we recommend choosing white gold when in doubt. There are relatively few people who are allergic to (white) gold.
Silver jewelry under 8 grams is not inspected in the Netherlands. Jewelry weighing more than 8 grams will receive one of the following hallmarks.
At Margriet Jewels, we only use 1st-grade silver (925/1000). Below are the hallmarks that are stamped in our silver jewelry at the Warranty. Of course, the Master's mark of Goldsmith Margriet (Margriet Burger-Schouten) also appears in all jewelry.
